2.20.25 :: Keeping me on my toes

It's been a busy week and tomorrow it's more of the same. I have to get to the studio earlier than usual to speak to a group of students. Something that I'm always interested in doing is connecting with young artists and students through studio visits and going to schools as a visiting artist.

Tomorrow's visit has me thinking about what work(s) to have out, but that won't be a hard choice. I'm already working on new pieces, so they'll be out and I'll probably display a couple of paintings from the past year or so. I have a lot of recent work here, so it's a pretty easy to choose what to show.

The studio floor is pretty clean thanks to my having to straighten up a bit for a studio visit this past Tuesday. I prefer having the space in the state of making, meaning that (sometimes) I'll have work out that's in progress, depending on the nature of the visit and leave the tables just as they are. Besides making sure no one's going to trip over someting on the floor, I'll paint the walls so that there're no distracting marks on the walls near paintings I'm showing to collectors, curators and others.

If you or someone you know might be interested in coming to the studio for a visit to be the first to see new work or to see other works in person and get an in-person peek behind the curtain, please feel free to contact me via email: tim@timmcfarlane.com. I'm usually available Mon-Fri., between 10am-6pm and Saturdays.

Studio address: 1400 N. American Street, suite 409, Philadelphia, PA 19122

I'm getting close to finishing some of these new Soft Poems and am happy with the progress, so far (see images above). I also have some experiments going on with my used paint rags. I'm playing the long game with these rag pieces and allowing myself more time to play with them. This is new and exciting territory for me and I'm enjoying allowing this new work to marinate for a longer time than most of my other paintings.

Until next time, thanks for being here!
