This is a newly completed painting (54" x 36", acrylic on canvas) that I'm currently attempting to put a title to. The two images on the right are detail photos. I made three new smaller (9" x 12") paintings similar to this and repurposed an older painting to realize it. 

I began this with the intent of making a more monochormatic painting where values were closer between the foreground form and the background. Things shifted as I worked on it and I really didn't like where the work was headed. I can't say exactly what it was, but putting some distance between "figure" and ground was needed, in my eyes. Not wanting to completly lose the orange, I laid down a layer of acrylic gel with a blue/red pigment mixed in. When you see it in person, the subtlety of the blue gel layer is a nice surprise, I think, and it helps bring the form closer to the viewer's space. 

In the meantime, I'm waiting for a title to hit.
